Inertial range statistics of the entropic lattice Boltzmann method in three-dimensional turbulence

We present a quantitative analysis of the inertial range statistics produced by Entropic Lattice Boltzmann Method (ELBM) in context 3d homogeneous and isotropic turbulence. ELBM is promising mesoscopic model particularly interesting for study fully developed turbulent flows because its intrinsic scalability unconditional stability. In hydrodynamic limit, equivalent to Navier-Stokes equations with an extra eddy viscosity term [1]. From this macroscopic formulation, we have derived new hydrodynamical that can be implemented as Large-Eddy Simulation (LES) closure. This not positive definite, hence, able reproduce backscatter events energy transferred from subgrid resolved scales. A statistical comparison both entropic models based on approach presented validated against Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS). Besides, provide second respect well known Smagorinsky found extend spectrum scaling preserving at same time simulation Concerning higher order, observables, accuracy shown comparable other approaches such model.
